If you haven't heard from me lately, it's because I've been up to my F string in a brand new electric violin concerto called "America, To US" written by award-winning composer Daniel Bernard Roumain! The premiere will be Feb. 20 with the Oakland Symphony, Kedrick Armstrong, conducting.
Consistently one of our most innovative living composers, Daniel has reimagined the concerto form to include several "Town Hall Cadenzas" featuring audience members sharing their thoughts to improvised accompaniments by me. (Along with plenty of non-improvised notes, as you can see below.) |
