It's been a while, but I just added a new episode to my podcast, interviewing my teacher from Juilliard, Lewis Kaplan.
I first started studying with Mr. Kaplan when I was 8 at the Juilliard pre-college, and then again during my college years there. At 91 years young, Kaplan has been teaching for over 60 years and it's so fascinating to hear how his approach to teaching has changed over the years. And to hear his impressions of me back then as a student and now, as someone who has strayed quite a musical distance from what he taught me. |
The Wheeling Symphony has just announced their concert exactly a year from now, next May 8. There are 2 other orchestras who co-commissioned the work with Wheeling and who will also have premieres in 2026, but they haven't yet announced their seasons yet, so no spoilers. Watch this space for news.
